Background
Vietnam’s government has unveiled a comprehensive action plan to steer the development of the country’s railway transport system, setting ambitious goals and clear directives to modernize and expand the network. The government will focus on developing the railway infrastructure and investment in new important routes. The project's total investment fetches $61.02 billion, of which state capital accounts for 80 per cent, and equity capital about 20 per cent. The government would also develop a new highspeed railway on the North-South and East West corridor.Government is willing to commit over US$70 billion investment to a high-speed railway system that will span the entire country.
